Class Agreement, Policies & Liability
Dog Training Class Policies for working with Certified Dog Trainer Shelly Haines, VSA-CDT, Fetch Worthy Dog Training.
Please read carefully and if you have any questions please use the contact page or email Shelly. Thank you.
Training Services
Lessons should be completed on the days of class. Trainer will suggest additional types of training opportunities like day training, classes, or board and train. Trainer will make every reasonable effort to help Client achieve training goals but makes no guarantee of Dog’s performance or behavior as a result of providing professional training. Behavior can never be guaranteed.
Reschedule/Cancellation Policy
If the Client is not present at the time of the scheduled appointment, it will count as ONE class.
Weather
If the class is rescheduled due to weather, the trainer will send a text by one hour before class begins. If space isn’t available for a make-up class, a virtual class will be in lieu.
Class Rules
Trainer takes the health and welfare of Client dogs seriously. They will not greet other dogs or people in the class. We will remain at least 6-10ft bubble from other handler dog teams, so our dogs can focus. Unfortunately, a dog with a bite history, reactivity, fearful of dogs or people will benefit from a private lesson first. One adult dog handler, if kids under the age of 18 yo need to attend class, they should be able to follow the rules and not cause a disruption, especially safety rules. If your dog is too stressed in class – Shelly will let you know and offer a private lesson using class as credits. Sorry no refunds are possible.
Guardian/Owner Commitment
Trainer is committed to helping dogs and Clients through passing along effective training techniques and principles. These techniques require commitment and consistency from all members of the family in order for the dog to be successful. Trainer reserves the right to terminate this contract if the owner/s are not cooperating with and/or implementing suggested advice and “practice homework.”
Liability
If Client’s dog causes property damage, or bites or injures any dog, animal or person (including but not limited to Trainer and Trainer’s agents), during or after the term of this Agreement, then Client agrees to pay all resulting losses and damages suffered or incurred, and to defend and indemnify Trainer and Trainer’s agents from any resulting claims, demands, lawsuits, losses, costs or expenses, including attorney fees. If Dog is injured in a fight or in any other manner during or after the term of the Agreement, Client assumes the risk and agrees that Trainer should not be held responsible for any resulting injuries, losses, damages, costs or expenses.
At Trainer’s sole election, Trainer’s duties hereunder shall terminate if (a) in Trainer’s sole judgment Dog is dangerous or vicious to Trainer or any other person or animal, or interferes with the training of other dogs, or (b) Client breaches any term or condition of this Agreement. Upon termination in accordance with the foregoing, Trainer’s duties shall terminate but all other provisions of this Agreement shall continue in full force and effect.
The parties confirm that, except for that which is specifically written in this Agreement, no promises, representations or oral understandings have been made with regard to Dog or anything else. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, Client acknowledges that Trainer has not represented, promised, guaranteed or warranted that Dog will never bite, that Dog will not be dangerous or vicious in the future, that Dog will not exhibit other behavioral problems, or that the results of the training will last for any particular amount of time.
